IN THE YEAR 199X

IN THE YEAR 199X: A 90's Anime Tribute Show
Calling all Anime fans! In the Year 199X is a celebration of Japanese animation in the 1990’s, curated by your favorite senpais Zoë Moss & Jacob Strick. Join us as we unveil the works of over 90 artists in celebration of their all-time favorite anime influences.

Kids who grew up in the 90’s know it as the decade where anime found its crossover appeal in the West. It might have been on Toonami or on a bootleg VHS, but you were watching shows like Dragon Ball Z, Sailor Moon and Cowboy Bebop — not to mention some classic cinema like Ghost in the Shell, Perfect Blue and Princess Mononoke. Whether you prefer dubs or subs – or Digimon to Pokémon – prepare yourself for the most animetastic tribute to 90’s Japanese cartoons!

When: July 3rd, 2015 from 7 to 11 PM
Where: Meltdown Comics inside Nerdist Showroom
7522 Sunset Blvd. Los Angeles, CA 90046

I worked with Jon Schnepp (Metalocalypse), both as animation director and animator on this mini series and I’m pretty pumped to see it all come together! If you like action, barbarians, magic, demons, gods being assholes, and skulls with batwings, definitely check this out!

2013 Animation Reel WIP

WIP of an animated thing I’m making for my 2013 reel.

In other words, I’ll be making a more finished version too.

Also, that eyeball guy (who you may notice is my icon) is named Ivan and he’s become a bit of my personal mascot. Since he was created originally to be one of several drawings in a still walk cycle project, I’ve always wanted to animate him moving. I cannot begin to tell you how happy I am that he’s finally moving around.

Bonus: Ivan is named after my dad, who used to like eyeballs and would wear eyeball things sometimes. I have inherited the eyeball obsession.
